Mora no Mapa Mundus

Com menos de 5 000 habitantes o concelho de Mora, distrito de Évora, teve que se reinventar para escapar ao inexorável despovoamento de que padece o interior do país, particularmente o Alentejo. 

Primeiro construiu o Fluviário,  inaugurado a 21 de Março de 2007 e que colocou a vila no mapa dos locais nacionais a visitar.  Já recebeu mais de 8 mil visitantes desde a sua abertura.

Depois a rede de pistas de pesca do concelho, inserida na Concessão de Pesca da Ribeira do Raia, e que é hoje considerada por um número crescente de pescadores, o ex-libris da Pesca Desportiva Nacional, com cerca de 16.200 m de comprimento e uma área de 940.000m2 de espelho de água.

Mais recentemente o Museu da Barroca, um Núcleo Museológico Agro-Florestal, da Santa Casa da Misericórdia local, dedicado às diversas transformações sociais e económicas ocorridas no concelho, desde o início do século XX até à actualidade.

E por fim o Museu Interactivo do Megalitismo, considerado o melhor projecto público,  em 2016, ano da sua abertura.

With less than 5,000 inhabitants, the municipality of Mora, Évora district, had to reinvent itself to escape the inexorable depopulation suffered by the interior of the country, particularly the Alentejo.

First, the local authorities built the Fluviário, inaugurated on 21March 2007. This initiative put the village on the map of the national sites to visit. It has received more than 8 000 visitors since it opened its doors. This aquarium is the first structure of this kind in Europe and the third in the whole world. A great reason to visit Mora. It please adults and kids alike.

Then, the Fishing Trails of Mora was created to welcome fishermen from all over the world. The municipality has two! Pista Internacional de Pesca Desportiva de Mora (Mora Sport Fishing International Trail) covers 0.62mi (1km) and has the capacity to hold 60 fishing spots. Pista Internacional de Pesca Desportiva de Cabeção (Cabeção Sport Fishing International Trail), in Ribeira do Raia, is 1.86mi (3km) long and a capacity to have 190 fishing spots. Every year, more and more fishermen find these fishing trails one of the best in the world.

More recently, local bodirshave created the Baroque Museum, an Agro-Forestry Museology Center, dedicated to the several social and economic changes that have been taking lace in the county, from the beginning of the 20th century til now.

Finally, Mora has inaugurated the Interactive Museum of Megalitismo in 2016. It was warded Best Public Project that same year.
